Beginning Blacksmithing – Saturday, Mar. 16, 2019 – 1 to 4 pm


This class gives you a basic history of blacksmithing and showing you the tools of the trade. You’ll learn basic techniques such as drawing out, twisting, and splitting.

Each beginning student will work on 2 or 3 pieces during the class usually a decorative hook or similar item that they will finish and take home. All materials, supplies, and tools are included in the $50 class fee.

If you have problems paying online, you can pay in cash, check, or by Square when you arrive for class. If you do plan to pay offline, please email us at first so that we can reserve your spot.

In this beginning class students will learn the history and basics of blacksmithing.

  • Safety
  • Anvils- You will learn the different types, brands and what to look for in purchasing an anvil.
  • Forge- The different types of forges will be discussed. A gas forge is used in this class.
  • Tools- What tools are needed and where you can find them.

Students will make two or more items, each teaching a different skill.

  • Drawing out
  • Twisting

Refunds may be given when at least a week notice is given. If less than a week notice, the class fee may be transferred to another time.
