All of the soap making classes we offer at Three Creeks Farm are designed to be fun, engaging and very hands-on. Class sizes are limited to five or fewer students so that you get personalized guidance and instruction as you learn all the ins and outs of making handmade soap. Students get to make and take home soap in every class we offer with the class fee covering all ingredients used in class.
In our Beginning Soap Making class, students learn the basic history of soap making, how soap recipes are created and how to safely work with lye when making soap. Each student will make their own one pound batch of soap in a reusable silicon mold that they get to take home and keep.
Our Intermediate Soap Making class builds on the basics by introducing students to making larger 5 lb batches of soap, including exploring using goat’s milk (or any other type of milk) in your recipe. You’ll also learn how to make hot process soap in a crock pot and we’ll dig deeper into adding colorants, exfoliants, herbs and decorative elements to soap.
Advanced Soap Making teaches students how to create and modify soap recipes using online soap calculators and also explores using colored swirl techniques in your soaps.

It’s a working farm where you’ll get to learn soapmaking in a natural setting, complete with peacocks and guineas milling around. Instructor Seth Shafer has been teaching soap making for nearly a decade, both at the farm at at various events around middle Tennessee.
