Soap Projects – Felted Soap, Pine Tar Soap and Shampoo Bars – Sunday, October 26, 2025 – 1 to 4 PM

$75.00

This Soap Projects class is designed for students who have taken our Beginning Soap Making class or have prior experience making soap and are comfortable working with lye and safety precautions.

We’ll explore and make three different soap projects in this class: Felted Soap, Pine Tar Soap and Shampoo Bars

Felted soap starts with a bar of soap you’ve already made, with wool wrapped around it. The wool is then put through a basic felting process that results in it adhering tightly to the soap. The final felted soap is a great exfoliator and lasts for a very long time.

Pine tar soap is made using the traditional cold process method but takes a different approach than usual due to the nature of the pine tar. People with eczema and dermatitis often seek out pine tar soap while others simply enjoy its rustic, smoky smell.

The shampoo bars we’ll make in class use an alternative method that requires no lye or melting of oils and butters. This process produces a soap bar that is specially formulated for hair versus standard soaps that focus on skin friendly features.

We’ll make a large community batch for each project, with students getting to take home some of each type of soap.
